First Newsletter Rolls Out
|
Greetings! We are pleased to announce the inaugural edition of our chapter newsletter. We have some significant news to share with you. In February, the Michigan Society SAR officially granted us our charter, and soon after, we elected our board members. Since then, we have been making swift progress. The Jeremiah Clark Chapter website has been completed, and our Facebook page has been launched. This past weekend, we disseminated a press release about our chapter to local newspapers and community members, and we have already received some positive responses indicating enthusiasm for our new chapter. The programs we will participate in and initiate ourselves will have a positive impact on the community. Our chapter has ambitious plans, and we would like to express our gratitude to those that have joined our new chapter.
Below is the press release we shared, which includes information about our chapter's background and the programs we plan to participate in. If you would like to get involved in any of these initiatives, please don't hesitate to contact us or join us at the next monthly meeting. You can find our website and Facebook page links below. We would be grateful if you could visit our Facebook page, give it a like, and share it with others to help spread the word about our chapter.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Jeremiah Clark Chapter of the Michigan Society Sons of the American Revolution: Preserving American History and Honoring Patriots
The establishment of the National Society SAR dates back to 1889. This organization has been a steadfast advocate for the remembrance and recognition of the heroes of the American Revolution, dedicated to upholding their legacy and inspiring future generations.
Clarkston, MI - The Jeremiah Clark Chapter is a newly formed chapter dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American history, and supporting better education for the nation's youth. The chapter was established after the idea to create a chapter in the Clarkston/Waterford/Lake Orion area was introduced by Rod Wilson and David Suzor of The Oaks chapter.
In October 2022, a meeting was held to discuss the establishment of a new chapter, followed by a pivotal December gathering where the attendees signed the application for charter. Members present at the meetings, showing overwhelming support, unanimously agreed to name the chapter the Jeremiah Clark Chapter. This name honors the patriarch of the Clark family, whose contributions and legacy are etched into the history of the local community. Jeremiah Clark, a brave and valiant patriot, fought in the American Revolutionary War to secure our nation's independence, making it fitting that he and his family settled in Independence Township. The Michigan Society SAR officially granted the charter February 2023, marking a historic moment for the community.
The chapter is proud to announce the following programs:
Clark Family Legacy Project The chapter will be launching a project to research and document the history of the Clark family. This project will include genealogical research, historical documentation, and the hosting of the Clark family tree on the chapter website.
Wreaths Across America The chapter will be participating in the Wreaths Across America program, which honors veterans by placing wreaths on their graves during the holiday season. The chapter will also be working to raise funds for this program.
Boy Scouts & Eagle Scouts The chapter will be working closely with local Boy Scouts and Eagle Scouts to promote patriotism and educate the youth about American history.
Youth Awards & Contests The chapter will be organizing a variety of contests and awards to encourage youth participation in patriotic activities, including essay contests, oratorical contests, and more.
Genealogy Workshops The chapter will be offering genealogy workshops to help individuals trace their ancestry and connect with their American heritage. These workshops will provide education on research methods, documentation, and preservation.
Patriot Grave Marking The chapter will be participating in patriot grave marking events to honor the memory of the men and women who served during the American Revolution. These events serve as a way to preserve the memory of those who fought for American independence and to educate the public about our nation's history.
America 250 In 2026, our country will celebrate its 250th birthday, marking the anniversary of the American Revolution. Our chapter will actively participate in commemorating and endorsing this significant event.
The Jeremiah Clark Chapter welcomes all those interested in the SAR and the chapter's objectives to join them at their monthly meetings. The chapter meets on the third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM at Buck Shots Bar & Grill in Clarkston, Michigan.
